MISTY GRAY | Founder + Principal Designer

When contemplating the name of her design business, the term Grayscale spoke to founder Misty Gray. Quite literally, it is a play on her given name, yet it has an even greater connection to her design philosophy.

With over a decade of experience working with clients, committees, design professionals, and builders, Misty has witnessed the fluidity necessary for a successful project. In the world of custom interiors, there is never a black or white answer. Instead, answers lie in the gray, in the blend of functionality, form, and aesthetics.

With a BFA in Interior Design from the New England School of Art & Design, Misty Gray combines her technical skills of spacial design with a trained eye for exquisite items.

Misty loves to travel the world with camera in hand, jet setting to tropical jungles, or exploring new cities; she is always searching for inspiration to bring into her designs. When at home, she is on the lookout for new local restaurants to feed her foodie soul or cooking for friends. Throughout the year, she and her husband enjoy spending time in Newport, RI.

KATHRYN HORLBOGEN | Designer + Project Manager

Kathryn joined Grayscale Design in the Fall of 2015. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Having always known residential design was her passion, the projects and clients of Grayscale are a perfect fit.

The idea that people welcome a designer into their home to create a space that is uniquely theirs is what drew Kathryn to this profession. She believes a persons’ home should be a place that exudes comfort and relaxation; knowing that this means something different to everyone makes this work intriguing.

Kathryn equally enjoys spending time at home reading a book or outside, exploring Boston. She can often be found at the beach in her home town of North Kingstown, RI with family and friends.

JUSTINE ASCI | Designer + Project Manager

After earning her Bachelor's degree in Interior Design at Boston Architectural College, Justine immediately dove into the professional world of interiors. She possesses a wide variety of work experiences: including time spent at residential design firms, as well as years working in the Universal Design field. Each of these opportunities further ignited her love for design, and encouraged Justine to push her creativity, attention to detail, and client relations to new heights.

When out of the office, Justine is a self-proclaimed foodie, wine enthusiast, and lover of animals + the outdoors! She resides in Massachusetts with her husband and two dogs Franco + Ava.
